This Sunday, July 26, 2026, the prefecture of Vo hosted a large awareness, information and protest meeting organized by the National Council for Consultation for Change (CNCC). For this second public outing of the group, Tournons La Page Togo (TLP-Togo) was at the forefront of the mobilization.

A delegation of more than 25 pro-democracy activists, led by the deputy coordinator of TLP-Togo, Fovi Katakou, made the trip to Vogan, located about sixty kilometers from the Togolese capital (Lomé), to show the movement's support for this citizen awakening process.

This rally is part of a campaign to fight against the constitutional revision imposed by the government in place. For civil society actors, this change of regime only aims to enshrine a de facto monarchization of the country, by locking in political power to the benefit of the RPT-UNIR regime (refers to the evolution of the party in power in Togo, embodied by the transformation of the RPT into UNIR under the leadership of Faure Gnassingbé) and by concentrating all institutional prerogatives in the hands of Faure Gnassingbé.  abolishing universal suffrage.

A national dynamic for peaceful change

The Vogan meeting is only one step in a more global strategy. According to the organizers of the CNCC and the officials of TLP-Togo, this information and awareness-raising work will gradually travel throughout the national territory to awaken popular awareness.

"The main objective is to achieve a strong and enlightened popular mobilization, capable of leading to a peaceful alternation and the restoration of a true democracy in Togo," said Professor David Dosseh, former coordinator of TLP-Togo.

Faced with the hardening of the dictatorship, TLP reaffirms that the solution will come from a pacifist, determined and structured citizen commitment alongside the active forces, the Togolese diaspora and the populations at the grassroots.
