Our members in danger

Defending democracy at the risk of their own freedom

The work of activists is not without danger, and many suffer serious violations of their rights. The members of Tournons La Page, because of the subjects they cover, are particularly targeted by these attacks. The purpose of this page is to draw attention to human rights defenders who are persecuted in their respective countries for their work as citizen watchdogs.

Mamadou Billo BAH

In prison for 12 months

Mamadou Billo BAH, head of the branches and mobilisation of the Front National pour la Défense de la Constitution (FNDC) and Coordinator of Tournons La Page Guinée (TLP-Guinée), was kidnapped at around 10.30pm on the night of Tuesday 9 July 2024 by a group of hooded soldiers, some in heavily armed civilian clothes.

Oumar SYLLA

National coordinator of the National Front for the Defence of the Constitution (FNDC) and member of Tournons La Page Guinée, Oumar SYLLA, alias ‘Foniké Menguè’, was kidnapped at around 10.30pm on the night of Tuesday 9 July 2024 by a group of hooded soldiers, some of them heavily armed in civilian clothes.

Alseny Farinta CAMARA

In exile since August 2024

Alseny Farinta Camara is the current coordinator of Tournons La Page Guinée (TLP-Guinée). He is also the president of the Réseau National des Acteurs du Développement Durable (RENADE).

During the night of May 9 to 10, 2024, unidentified individuals entered his home in Conakry at around 4:00 a.m., making threats against him and his family. Following this incident, he filed a complaint against unknown persons with the Office of the Prosecutor General at the Court of Appeal of Conakry and relocated his family to a safer place for security reasons.

Rodrigue Koffi AMEDONOU

Rodrigue Koffi Amedonou à l’Etat civil et Rodrigue Ahégo comme pseudonyme, est une figure centrale de la société civile togolaise en tant que journaliste, défenseur des Droits Humains (La Voix des Sans Voix) et coordinateur national de Tournons La Page Togo (TLP-Togo). Son engagement pour la démocratie et les droits fondamentaux lui a valu d'être la cible répétée de l'appareil sécuritaire de l'État.

Bertin BANDIANGOU

In exile since September 5, 2025.

Bertin BANDIANGOU is a Togolese activist and human rights defender, a student, and the national president of the association Synergie des Élèves et Étudiants du Togo (SEET). A long-standing committed activist, he became known through his critical positions on the precarious conditions faced by pupils, students, and parents, as well as through his analyses of the Togolese education system and his calls for freedom, social justice, and respect for fundamental rights.
