Ibrahima DIALLO

Arrested on July 30, 2022 Still in prison

After Oumar SYLLA, Ibrahima DIALLO, coordinator of TLP-Guinea and head of operations for the FNDC, was arrested at around 6pm at his home on 30 July, by hooded and heavily armed soldiers and gendarmes, then taken to the high command of the gendarmerie. There he joined Oumar SYLLA, coordinator of the FNDC and deputy coordinator of TLP Guinea, who was arrested at his home at around 1.40am the same day. This arrest and that of Oumar SYLLA come at a time when violence has again broken out in Conakry, following the banning by the authorities of a series of rallies organised by the FNDC from 23 June to denounce the unilateral management of the transition by the military junta. At the last rally on 28 July, the security forces reported 12 injuries among their ranks and the arrest of 85 people. According to the FNDC, four people were killed and several others wounded by bullets, 5 of whom are currently in critical condition. The aim of the regime's violent repression is to muzzle any dissenting voices and discourage citizens from mobilising.
